76ers' Paul George reacts to eye injury, sitting out of OT vs. Hornets
Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George has reacted to the eye injury that forced him to sit out of overtime in the team's 113-110 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.
George, who is averaging 23.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game this season, suffered the injury when he was accidentally poked in the eye by Hornets forward Nicolas Batum in the third quarter.
"It's just one of those freak accidents," George said after the game. "I'm just glad it's not anything more serious."
George said the injury was bothering him a bit, but he was able to play through it until the fourth quarter, when it started to bother him more.
"I just couldn't see," George said. "I was trying to play through it, but I just couldn't do it."
George said he is hopeful that he will be able to play in the Clippers' next game, which is on Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
"I'm going to get some treatment and see how it feels," George said. "Hopefully I'll be good to go for Friday."
The Clippers are currently 19-16 this season and are in fifth place in the Western Conference.
