Anfernee Simons Escapes Serious Injury in Timberwolves Win

Trail Blazers Star Suffers Ankle Sprain, Expected to Miss Multiple Games

Simons Injury Details and Timeline for Return

Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons narrowly avoided a severe injury during their 113-106 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Simons was forced to leave the game in the first half after suffering an ankle sprain. X-rays came back negative, indicating no structural damage, but Simons is still expected to miss several games. The injury occurred with 3:40 remaining in the second quarter. Simons attempted to drive past Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels but stepped on McDaniels' foot and rolled his ankle. He immediately grabbed his ankle and was helped off the court. The Trail Blazers announced at halftime that Simons had suffered a sprained ankle and would not return to the game. After the game, Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups provided an update on Simons' condition. "He's got a sprained ankle," Billups said. "We'll see how he responds the next few days. He'll probably miss a few games, but we'll take it day by day and see how he responds to treatment." Simons has been a key player for the Trail Blazers this season, averaging 21.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. His absence will be a significant blow to the team, especially with Damian Lillard also sidelined due to a calf injury. The Trail Blazers are scheduled to face the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night in Portland. They will then have three days off before traveling to Dallas to take on the Mavericks on Wednesday night. It is unclear whether Simons will be available for either of those games.
