'We were all asleep': Mother says stranger 'just walked into our hotel room'

A British mother has spoken of her terror after claiming a complete stranger entered her hotel room in Turkey in the middle of the night as her children slept.

'He just walked into our hotel room'

The woman, who has not been named, said she was sleeping in her hotel room in the early hours of Monday morning when she was woken by a noise.

She said she got out of bed and saw a man standing in the doorway of her room.

"I was terrified," she said. "He just walked into our hotel room as we were all asleep."

'He was just standing there'

The woman said the man was tall and thin, and was wearing a dark hoodie.

She said he did not say anything, but just stood there staring at her.

"I screamed and he ran off," she said.

'I'm so glad my kids didn't wake up'

The woman said she immediately called the hotel reception, who sent security to her room.

She said the security guards searched the hotel, but were unable to find the man.

"I'm so glad my kids didn't wake up," she said. "I can't imagine what would have happened if they had."

'The hotel is investigating'

A spokesperson for the hotel said they are investigating the incident.

"We are taking this matter very seriously," the spokesperson said.

"We have spoken to the guest and are working with the local police to investigate."

'We have increased security'

The spokesperson said the hotel has increased security in the wake of the incident.

"We have increased the number of security guards on patrol and have installed new security cameras," the spokesperson said.

"We want to assure our guests that their safety is our top priority."
