Pistons point guard had another triple-double against the Lakers with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists
Cade Cunningham is making history with the Detroit Pistons. In his second season, he has already recorded three triple-doubles, putting him in rare company in Pistons history. Only two other Pistons players have ever had multiple triple-doubles in a season: Isiah Thomas and Grant Hill.
Cunningham's most recent triple-double came against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. He finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, leading the Pistons to a 110-106 victory.
Cunningham's triple-double streak began on Jan. 14 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He followed that up with another triple-double against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 22. In those three games, Cunningham has averaged 23.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 9.3 assists per game.
Cunningham is the first Pistons player to record three triple-doubles in a season since Grant Hill in 1996-97. Thomas is the Pistons' all-time leader in triple-doubles, with 11.
Cunningham's triple-double streak is a sign of his growing stardom. He is one of the most promising young players in the NBA, and he is quickly becoming a leader for the Pistons.
The Pistons are currently 10-33 on the season, but they are playing better lately. They have won three of their last four games, and Cunningham is a big reason why.
If Cunningham can continue to play at a high level, the Pistons could make a run at a playoff spot this season. He is a special player, and he is the future of the franchise.
