Champions Classic Renewed, to Continue Through 2028 Season, UK Announces
A Storied Tradition
The Champions Classic, one of the most prestigious events in college basketball, will continue through the 2028 season, the University of Kentucky announced on Tuesday. The event, which began in 2011, features four of the nation's top programs - Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, and Michigan State - competing in a doubleheader at a neutral site.The Champions Classic has quickly become a staple of the college basketball calendar, showcasing some of the best players and teams in the country. The event has also been a financial success, generating millions of dollars for the participating schools.
A Look Ahead
The 2023 Champions Classic will be held on November 14th at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The matchups will feature Kentucky vs. Michigan State and Duke vs. Kansas. The 2024 event will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and the 2025 event will be held at the United Center in Chicago. The locations for the 2026, 2027, and 2028 events have not yet been announced.The Champions Classic is a unique event that provides fans with a chance to see some of the best college basketball programs in the country compete against each other.
