Cunningham's triple-double lifts Pistons over Wizards
Cade Cunningham recorded his third straight triple-double with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, and blocked a potential game-tying shot in the final seconds to give the Detroit Pistons a 111-109 victory over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.
The Pistons were clinging to a one-point lead with just seconds remaining when Cunningham swatted away a layup attempt by Bradley Beal, who finished with 32 points.
Cunningham's block sealed the victory for the Pistons, who snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 10-27 on the season.
The 20-year-old Cunningham is the first Pistons player to record three consecutive triple-doubles since Grant Hill in 1996.
Saddiq Bey added 20 points for the Pistons, while Isaiah Stewart contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Kristaps Porzingis led the Wizards with 27 points, while Beal added 32.
The Pistons took a 10-point lead in the first quarter, but the Wizards fought back to tie the game at 55 at halftime.
The Pistons regained the lead in the third quarter and held on for the victory.
Cunningham's triple-double was his sixth of the season, which is tied for the most in the NBA.
The Pistons will return to action on Thursday night when they host the New Orleans Pelicans.
