Former President Donald Trump has called Fox News host Pete Hegseth a "great guy" after Hegseth criticized President Joe Biden's handling of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Trump made the comments on Tuesday night during a phone interview with Fox News' "Hannity."

"Pete Hegseth is a great guy," Trump said. "He's a friend of mine. He's a good guy."

Hegseth has been critical of Biden's handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan, which has been widely criticized as chaotic and deadly.

In a recent appearance on "Fox & Friends," Hegseth said that Biden had "lost all credibility" over the withdrawal.

"He's lost all credibility," Hegseth said. "He's lost all respect. He's lost all authority."

Trump's comments about Hegseth come after a number of other Republicans have criticized Biden's handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Biden had "betrayed" the American people with the withdrawal.

Former Vice President Mike Pence said that Biden had "failed" the American people with the withdrawal.

The withdrawal from Afghanistan has been widely criticized as chaotic and deadly.

Thirteen US service members were killed in a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport during the withdrawal.

The Taliban has since taken over Afghanistan.
