Firefighters responded to a report of an explosion and fire inside a three-story building on the city's West Side at approximately 10am this morning. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions on the third floor of the building.

Firefighters quickly entered the building and located an unconscious construction worker on the third floor. The worker was rescued and transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. No other injuries were reported.
