Daniel Gafford recorded his third double-double of the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds as the Washington Wizards defeated the Detroit Pistons 106-102 on Wednesday night in Detroit.
Gafford was 10-of-15 from the field and added three assists and two blocks. Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 25 points, while Kyle Kuzma added 23 points and 11 rebounds.
The Pistons were led by Kristaps Porzingis, who returned from a one-game absence due to a right foot contusion and scored 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Jaden Ivey added 22 points and six assists, while Bojan Bogdanovic scored 16 points.
The Wizards took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Pistons 33-19. Washington led by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter before the Pistons rallied to cut the deficit to two points with 1:09 remaining.
However, the Wizards made their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. Washington improved to 11-13 with the win, while the Pistons fell to 8-16.
