Grizzlies Star Ja Morant Out Week-to-Week With 'Extreme Right Hip Flexion'
Morant Injures Hip in Game 3 of Grizzlies-Timberwolves Series
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant will be out week-to-week with an extreme right hip flexion injury, the team announced Tuesday. Morant suffered the injury in the third quarter of the Grizzlies' Game 3 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. He was driving to the basket when he was fouled hard by Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns. Morant immediately grabbed his hip and limped off the court.
Grizzlies Facing Uphill Battle Without Morant
The Grizzlies are now facing an uphill battle in their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Timberwolves. Morant is the team's leading scorer and assist man, and his absence will be a major blow to their offense. The Grizzlies are now 1-2 in the series and will need to win at least one game in Minnesota to force a Game 7 back in Memphis.
Morant's Injury History
This is not the first time Morant has dealt with hip issues. He missed several games during the regular season due to a left hip contusion. However, the Grizzlies are hopeful that this latest injury is not as serious and that Morant will be able to return to the lineup soon.
Grizzlies-Timberwolves Series Update
The Grizzlies-Timberwolves series will resume on Wednesday night in Minnesota. The Timberwolves will be looking to take a 3-1 lead in the series, while the Grizzlies will be looking to even the series at 2-2. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.
