'I'm not a bad person': Brit, 28, arrested in USA before Manchester Airport flight home breaks silence
Georgia Toffolo pal launched into angry, expletive-laden tirade at airport staff in US
Georgia Toffolo's friend has broken his silence after his arrest at a US airport, claiming he is "not a bad person".
Joseph Burratt, 28, was arrested at Atlanta Airport on 19th August following an alleged altercation with staff, leading to him missing his flight home to Manchester.
Burratt, who works as a TV researcher, said he had been drinking before the incident and was not 'in the right frame of mind'.
He told The Sun: "I'm not a bad person. I'm not some out-of-control drunk. I am not a violent person." Burratt said he 'deeply regrets' his behaviour and "understands the seriousness" of the charges he faces.
He has been charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and obstruction of an officer, and is due to appear in court on 27th September.
Burratt, who is friends with Georgia Toffolo, has said he is "incredibly grateful" none of the airport staff were injured.
He claims his bag was stolen from him and an argument ensued with security staff. He added: "I had been drinking. I shouldn't have been. I wasn't in the right frame of mind. I don't remember everything that happened."
Burratt had been on a holiday in the US to visit a friend and was due to fly back to Manchester via London Heathrow.
He says he was 'disgusted' with his behaviour and 'ashamed' to have caused such a scene. He said: "I am so sorry to everyone involved. I know this has caused a lot of inconvenience and stress to a lot of people."
He added:"I am truly sorry for my actions. I am not someone who goes around behaving like this. It is completely out of character for me.”
