Jayhawks Back in Action Monday Hosting Sam Houston State

Return to Play

After a bye week, the Kansas Jayhawks return to action Monday, hosting the Sam Houston State Bearkats at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

Simmons Returns

Quarterback Jalon Daniels is expected to start for the Jayhawks after missing the season opener due to injury. Head coach Lance Leipold said Daniels has practiced well during the bye week and is ready to go.

Daniels' return is a big boost for the Jayhawks, who struggled offensively in their season-opening loss to South Dakota. The Jayhawks managed just 246 yards of total offense and were held scoreless in the second half.

The Jayhawks will need to be much better offensively against Sam Houston State, who is coming off a 42-10 win over Stephen F. Austin. The Bearkats are led by quarterback Keegan Shoemaker, who threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
