Joel Embiid Sluggish, Struggles in 76ers Return in Lopsided Loss to Knicks
Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid returned to the lineup Saturday night after missing two games due to a left foot injury, but he looked far from 100 percent.
Embiid finished with just 12 points on 4-of-14 shooting in the 76ers' 112-85 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. He also had six rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes.
Embiid was clearly not himself, as he was slow moving and struggled to get into the paint. He also had trouble finishing at the rim, which is usually one of his strengths.
After the game, Embiid admitted that he was still not feeling 100 percent, but he wanted to give it a go.
"I'm still not feeling great," Embiid said. "But I wanted to try to play and see how it felt. I just wasn't able to be effective tonight."
The 76ers are now 3-2 this season without Embiid in the lineup. They will host the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night before embarking on a three-game road trip.
Here are some additional notes from the game:
- Tobias Harris led the 76ers with 23 points.
- Seth Curry added 18 points.
- RJ Barrett led the Knicks with 24 points.
- Julius Randle added 18 points and 10 rebounds.
- The Knicks hit 15 3-pointers in the game.
