Arsenal reach Champions League semi-finals as Vivianne Miedema's late winner sinks Juventus

Arsenal have reached the semi-finals of the Women's Champions League after a 2-1 victory over Juventus in Turin secured a 3-2 aggregate triumph.

Vivianne Miedema's late strike proved decisive as the Gunners overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit to reach the last four for the first time since 2013.

Miedema had earlier levelled the tie on aggregate after Cristiana Girelli had given Juventus the lead in the first half.

The victory is a major boost for Arsenal, who are also in contention for the Women's Super League title and the FA Cup.

Jonas Eidevall's side will now face either Barcelona or Real Madrid in the semi-finals, with the first leg taking place on April 22.

Miedema's late strike sends Arsenal through

Arsenal started the game brightly and had the first chance when Miedema fired wide from a tight angle.

Juventus grew into the game and took the lead in the 22nd minute when Girelli headed home from close range.

The Gunners responded well and levelled the tie on aggregate just before half-time when Miedema tapped home from close range.

The second half was a more cagey affair, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances.

However, Arsenal grabbed the winner in the 89th minute when Miedema pounced on a loose ball in the Juventus area and fired home.

Arsenal reach semi-finals for first time since 2013

The victory is a major achievement for Arsenal, who are now one of the favourites to win the Women's Champions League.

It is also a significant moment for Eidevall, who has transformed the Gunners since taking over as manager last summer.

Arsenal will now be hoping to go all the way and win the competition for the first time since 2007.
