Kentucky WBB to Face Projected SoCon Favorite Wofford

Lexington, Ky. (UKAthletics.com) –

The Kentucky women’s basketball team will face its first true road test of the 2022-23 season on Tuesday when it travels to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on Wofford College at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+

1. Terriers Projected to Win SoCon

Wofford enters the contest with a 2-0 record after posting wins over Piedmont and North Carolina A&T. The Terriers are picked to win the Southern Conference this season after finishing 16-2 in league play last season and reaching the quarterfinals of the WNIT.

2. Kentucky Coming Off Convincing Win

Kentucky is 3-0 on the young season, including a 77-51 victory over Morehead State on Friday at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats forced 26 turnovers and held the Eagles to 34.0% shooting from the floor. Senior guard Robyn Benton and junior forward Ajae Petty each scored 15 points to lead the way for UK.

3. Scouting the Terriers

Wofford is led by fifth-year senior forward Chloe Wanink, who is averaging 17.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. The Terriers also feature a talented backcourt duo in junior guard Sydney Clarke and sophomore guard Niya Beverley. Clarke is averaging 14.5 points and 6.0 assists per game, while Beverley is averaging 13.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

This will be the first meeting between Kentucky and Wofford in women’s basketball.
