Lawrence gets off to perfect start, sparks No. 20 Kentucky to 76-42 win over Wofford
Kentucky's offense exploded in the second half, led by a 15-point performance from CJ Fredrick.
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- C.J. Fredrick scored 15 points and No. 20 Kentucky shot a blistering 67% from the field in the second half to pull away from Wofford 76-42 on Friday night.
The Wildcats (1-0) trailed by three at halftime but used a 17-2 run to open the second half and take control of the game. Fredrick hit a 3-pointer to give Kentucky the lead for good at 34-31, and Oscar Tshiebwe followed with a dunk and a layup to force a Wofford timeout.
The Terriers (0-1) never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Kentucky's defense was also impressive, holding Wofford to just 28% shooting from the field.
Tshiebwe finished with 12 points and 17 rebounds for Kentucky, while Antonio Reeves added 12 points and Jacob Toppin had 11.
B.J. Mack led Wofford with 10 points.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Monday when they host Duquesne. Wofford will travel to South Carolina on Tuesday.
Kentucky has now won 16 straight home games against non-conference opponents.
The Wildcats have also won their last five season openers.
Kentucky is now 2-0 all-time against Wofford.
