Kentucky rallies to upset No. 6 Duke at Champions Classic
No. 19 Kentucky overcame a 12-point deficit with 12:15 remaining to defeat No. 6 Duke, 73-67, in the 2024 Champions Classic in Indianapolis on Tuesday night.
Kentucky (2-0) trailed 54-42 with 12:15 on the clock before rallying behind Cason Wallace's 19 points. Wallace scored 11 during Kentucky's run, which gave the Wildcats a 61-60 lead with 4:04 to go.
Kentucky made 14 of its final 15 shots from the field after Chris Livingston's layup gave Duke a 54-42 lead.
Duke (1-1) scored just three points over the final 8:19 of the game.
Wallace added a team-high eight rebounds and six assists for Kentucky, while Jacob Toppin scored 13 and Antonio Reeves added 11.
Kyle Filipowski led Duke with 17 points, while Dariq Whitehead scored 16 and Mark Mitchell added 14.
No. 1 Kansas handles Michigan State in Champions Classic
Jalen Wilson scored 22 points and No. 1 Kansas used a big run midway through the second half to pull away from Michigan State, 87-74, in Tuesday night's Champions Classic in Indianapolis.
KJ Adams Jr. added 19 points, Kevin McCullar Jr. scored 17 and Gradey Dick added 16 for Kansas (2-0), which has won 20 consecutive games against non-conference opponents.
Kansas used a 15-0 run to turn a tie game into a 65-50 lead with 9:30 remaining. Wilson scored five points during the run and McCullar added four.
Michigan State (1-1) was led by Tyson Walker's 22 points, while A.J. Hoggard added 16 and Jaxon Kohler scored 12.
Michigan State made just 1 of 10 from 3-point range in the second half and committed 10 turnovers after halftime.
