Travis d’Arnaud Reunites With Angels Pilot Ron Washington
Partnership Brings Decade of Experience to Angels
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Los Angeles Angels have announced the return of catcher Travis d’Arnaud, who has signed a one-year contract with the team. D’Arnaud, who played for the Angels from 2015 to 2019, will reunite with manager Ron Washington, who was his manager in Atlanta in 2022.
D’Arnaud, 34, is a two-time All-Star and has a career batting average of .262 with 103 home runs and 420 RBIs. He has also been a standout defensively, winning a Gold Glove Award in 2021.
A familiar face
D’Arnaud said he is excited to be back with the Angels and is looking forward to working with Washington again. “I’m really excited to be back in Anaheim,” d’Arnaud said. “I had a great time here before and I’m looking forward to getting back on the field with my teammates and helping us win.”
Washington said he is also happy to have d’Arnaud back with the Angels. “Travis is a great player and a great teammate,” Washington said. “I’m excited to have him back in our clubhouse and I know he will be a valuable asset to our team.”
A winning combination
D’Arnaud and Washington have a history of success together. In 2022, the Braves won the National League East and advanced to the World Series under Washington’s guidance. D’Arnaud was a key part of the Braves’ success, batting .282 with 18 home runs and 69 RBIs.
The Angels are hoping that D’Arnaud and Washington can help them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. The Angels have not had a winning season since 2015, but they are hoping that the addition of d’Arnaud and the return of Washington will help them turn things around.
