Trump’s Idiotic Homeland Security Pick Is Somehow Not the Worst Choice
Just When You Thought It Couldn't Get Any Worse
President Trump's latest pick for Homeland Security Secretary, Chad Wolf, is a political appointee with no experience in law enforcement or national security. Despite his lack of qualifications, Wolf was confirmed by the Senate in a 54-41 vote.
Wolf's Lack of Qualifications
Wolf has spent his entire career in political consulting and lobbying. He has no experience in law enforcement or national security. In fact, he has never even worked in government.
Wolf's lack of experience is a major concern. The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for protecting the United States from terrorism and other threats. It is essential that the person leading this department have the experience and knowledge necessary to do the job.
The Worst-Case Scenario
If Wolf is not qualified to be Homeland Security Secretary, then who is? The answer is: no one.
Trump has already fired or forced out all of the qualified candidates for this position. The only people left are political appointees with no experience in law enforcement or national security.
This is a dangerous situation. The United States is facing a number of serious threats, including terrorism, cyberattacks, and natural disasters. We need a qualified leader at the helm of the Department of Homeland Security to protect us from these threats.
A Glimmer of Hope
Despite the bleak outlook, there is one glimmer of hope. Wolf has said that he is willing to listen to experts and take their advice.
If Wolf is serious about this, then he could potentially be a good Homeland Security Secretary. He may not have the experience, but he is willing to learn. That is more than can be said for some of the other candidates Trump has considered.
Only Time Will Tell
Only time will tell whether Wolf will be a good Homeland Security Secretary. He has a lot to prove, but he has also shown a willingness to listen to experts. That is a good sign.
We can only hope that Wolf lives up to his potential and becomes a good Homeland Security Secretary. The United States needs a qualified leader at the helm of this department to protect us from the many threats we face.
