University Volleyball Team With Trans Player Headed To Playoffs
A Division I women's volleyball team from California is headed to the NCAA tournament with a player who is transgender.
21-year-old Avery Jackson came out in February as a trans woman while her team was in the middle of its season.
Jackson is a 6-foot-5 middle blocker who played on the men's volleyball team at Pepperdine University for three years before transferring to Cal Poly. She is believed to be the first transgender woman to play Division I women's volleyball.
Jackson has said that she has always felt like a woman and that she is grateful for the opportunity to play on the women's team at Cal Poly.
Jackson's story is an inspiring one, and it is sure to inspire other transgender athletes to come out and play the sports they love.
