Walker Kessler Out As Jazz Host Suns To Open Cup Play
Rising Star, Walker Kessler, to Sit Out Jazz’s First Cup Game
The Utah Jazz will open Cup play Wednesday night without their standout rookie, Walker Kessler. Kessler, who has quickly become a fan favorite in Salt Lake City, is out with a sprained ankle.
The injury occurred during Monday’s practice. Kessler stepped on teammate Lauri Markkanen’s foot and rolled his ankle. He was unable to finish practice and was later diagnosed with a sprain.
Unfortunate Timing for Kessler and the Jazz
Kessler’s injury is a big blow to the Jazz, who are already without starting point guard Mike Conley. Conley is out with a knee injury and is expected to miss at least the first two games of the series.
Kessler has been a key contributor for the Jazz this season, averaging 8.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. He has also been one of the team’s best defenders, using his 7-foot-1 wingspan to protect the rim.
Jazz Still Confident Despite Injuries
Despite the injuries to Kessler and Conley, the Jazz are still confident they can compete in the Cup. They have a deep roster with plenty of経験, and they are led by two All-Stars in Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.
The Jazz will open Cup play Wednesday night at home against the Phoenix Suns. Game 2 is Friday night in Phoenix, and Game 3 is Sunday night in Salt Lake City.
