Bike rides and Balkan music: Klay Thompson is embracing a fresh start with the Mavericks
Thompson's resurgence
Klay Thompson is back. After missing the last two seasons with a torn ACL and a ruptured Achilles, the five-time All-Star is finally healthy and ready to contribute to the Dallas Mavericks.
In his first game back, Thompson scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-7 from three-point range. He also had four rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes of action.
"I'm just happy to be back out there playing basketball," Thompson said after the game. "It's been a long road back, but I'm finally feeling healthy and ready to go."
Thompson's return is a huge boost for the Mavericks, who are looking to make a deep playoff run this season. Thompson is one of the best shooters in the NBA, and he can also provide some much-needed defense on the wing.
"Klay is a special player," Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. "He's a winner, and he knows how to play the game the right way. He's going to be a great addition to our team."
Thompson's new life in Dallas
Thompson is embracing his new life in Dallas. He's enjoying the city's vibrant culture and food scene, and he's also getting to know his new teammates.
"Dallas is a great city," Thompson said. "I'm really enjoying my time here. The people are friendly, and the food is amazing."
Thompson is also enjoying playing with Luka Doncic, the Mavericks' young superstar.
"Luka is an incredible player," Thompson said. "He's so talented, and he makes everyone around him better."
Thompson is hoping to help the Mavericks win a championship this season. He knows it will be a challenge, but he's confident that the team has what it takes.
"We have a great team," Thompson said. "We have a lot of talent, and we're all committed to winning. I think we can make a deep run in the playoffs."
Thompson's future
Thompson is 32 years old, but he's still one of the best shooters in the NBA. He's signed a two-year contract with the Mavericks, and he's hoping to stay in Dallas for the rest of his career.
"I love it here," Thompson said. "I want to win a championship here. I think we have a great chance to do that this season."
