Massive Blast Injures Multiple, Damages Buildings
A massive explosion rocked Louisville, Kentucky, Tuesday afternoon, injuring multiple people and causing significant damage to nearby buildings.
The explosion occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the Butchertown neighborhood, near the intersection of East Washington Street and South Preston Street. Witnesses reported hearing a loud boom and seeing a large plume of smoke rising into the air. The blast shattered windows and caused structural damage to several buildings within a two-block radius.
Emergency Services Respond, Casualties Unclear
Emergency services, including firefighters, police, and paramedics, rushed to the scene. Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire that broke out in one of the damaged buildings, while paramedics tended to the injured. The extent of the injuries is still unclear, but multiple people have been transported to local hospitals.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has joined the investigation, and a statement from the agency is expected shortly.
