Klay Thompson Feels 'Rejuvenated' as He Returns to Bay Area with Mavericks
Warriors Guard Expected to Sit Out vs. Former Team
Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson is set to return to the Bay Area on Friday night when his Dallas Mavericks face his former team. Thompson, who spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Warriors, is expected to sit out the game due to injury management.
Despite not playing, Thompson is excited to be back in the Bay Area. "It's always great to come back to the Bay," Thompson said. "I have a lot of great memories here. It's going to be weird not playing, but I'm still looking forward to seeing the fans and my old teammates."
Thompson is Bouncing Back from an Injury
Thompson is still recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals. He missed the entire 2019-20 season and only played 32 games last season. Thompson is hoping to be back to full strength for the start of the 2022-23 season.
"I'm feeling good," Thompson said. "I'm getting stronger every day. I'm just taking it one day at a time. I'm not trying to rush anything. I just want to make sure I'm 100% healthy when I come back."
Thompson is Excited for the Future
Thompson is excited about the future with the Mavericks. He believes that he can help the team compete for a championship.
"I'm really excited to be a part of this team," Thompson said. "I think we have a lot of potential. We have a lot of young talent. I think we can be a really good team."
